YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush Duo Stick - $34 each at Nordstrom |
Another brand hopping on to the ombre lip trend this year is YSL with the new Baby Doll Kiss & Blush Duo Sticks. These sticks, as the name suggests, can be used as cream blushes and/or as lip colors, and each comes with two colors. The duo sticks feature a twist-up packaging and look and feel similar to lip balms but with a lot more pigment in them. Scroll on for swatches.
I found these YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush Duo Sticks at my local Nordstrom (also available online), and there is a difference in the names of some of these between what is listed on the website and what I saw in store. Anywho, I have added in both the names in the photos. Back to the product itself, this looks and feels very much like a very pigmented lip balm. The sticks are chubby and the rounded edges make it easy to apply the colors individually without too much of an effort. All the colors are quite pigmented, and even the paler shades like From Prude to Nude (or Nude to Naked - not sure what's the actual name) which doesn't show up on my darker skin tone would be perfect on someone with lighter skin tone. The creamy balm-like consistency makes it easy to apply these as blushes, and the intensity of the color can be easily toned down (or built up). I amn't sure how these would perform on the lips, though. I have lips that tend to get chapped and have dried flaky bits, and a thick balmy consistency like this usually ends up making those dry bits prominent.
Overall, the YSL Baby Doll Kiss Blush Duo Sticks seem perfect to use as cream blushes and perhaps also has lip tints. The colors are fun and seem perfect for spring/summer, and they are quite convenient to carry around in the bag. I do wish the packaging was a little more luxurious looking and heavy, though.
