Cranberry and Pinks for an Easy Fall/Winter Makeup Look

It's been a while since I posted any makeup looks or reviews, and the start of a new year seems like a good time for updates.  The big news, if you haven't already noticed in the photo above, is I have been growing out my grey hair.  I noticed my first grey hair some time in my early 20s, started coloring a couple of years later, and at this point, I feel like I really need a break - from my boring hair color and the constant upkeep.  It has been an easy 3-month journey so far for me, mostly because I stay at home and don't have to interact with people much except on weekends.  I haven't made up my mind, though, on whether to stick to this or hop back on to the hair color wagon, so it made perfect sense to post on the internet for the world to see 😛.

On the makeup front, I have been obsessed with berry and plum tones this fall, and my current favorites are the Bite Beauty Multistick in Papaya and MAC Cranberry eyeshadow.  I bought both quite recently - Papaya as part of a Bite Beauty mini-multistick duo pack from Sephora, while the MAC eyeshadow was an impulse buy when I found a nearly empty MAC store with a really friendly SA.  While I generally opt for neutral lip colors, I felt like my current hair color (or the lack of) needed a brighter/bolder lip.  Scroll on for an easy makeup how-to.

Cranberry Eye Makeup - Easy Steps
1.  Apply Bite Beauty Multistick in Papaya all over the lids - I found it easiest to apply with fingers.
2.  Using a flat eyeshadow brush, apply MAC eyeshadow in Cranberry over the lid and along the lower waterline (about 2/3 way in).
3.  Using a pointed/precise eyeshadow brush, apply MAC eyeshadow in Wedge to inner corner of eye and along the lower waterline (inner 1/3).
4.  Apply NARS Coconut Grove along upper lashline and a tiny bit just along the outer corner of lower lashline - used an angled liner brush for this.
5.  Blend the shadow along the lashline using a smudger brush.  Tightline along the upper lashline, applying the eyeliner between the roots of the lashes rather than creating a defined line.  I used Maybelline Skinny Gel Pencil in Black for this.  Also lined along the lower waterline.
6.  Blend the eyeshadow along the socket line with a fluffy eyeshadow brush and a bit of MAC Soft Brown eyeshadow to diffuse any harsh edges.  Do the same along lower lashline using the shadow smudge brush.  Finish with mascara to the lashes.

To complete the makeup look, I used the same Bite Beauty Multistick in Papaya for blush.  This is a bit like a cream blush but feels more powdery/matte, so while I can apply the blush with my fingers,  it blends better with a brush.  For my lips, I lined lips with a neutral rose colored pencil by YSL, filled in lightly with a fuchsia pink lipstick (Givenchy Fuchsia-in-the-Know), and topped with a sheer pink lipgloss (YSL Volupte Tint-in-Oil).  The YSL products are discontinued now, I think, which makes me a little sad, but it's a nice excuse to look for something new :D
